Mosquito-Borne Tropical Diseases
Antigens & Antibodies for Assay Development

Worldwide, over one million people die each year from mosquito-borne diseases and traditionally these diseases have been limited to tropical and subtropical regions. However, many mosquito-borne diseases are spreading to temperate regions and are becoming endemic in areas such as the United States.

Major viruses transmitted by mosquitos include Zika Virus, Dengue and Chikungunya. They all share similar clinical symptoms which can lead to misdiagnoses in areas where infections are common. The severity of the disease and associated complications are different between the infections so accurate diagnosis is essential to ensure proper treatment.

Zika Virus

Recombinant Zika Envelope Protein (R01636)
• Expressed in insect cells and contains a His-tag
• Suitable for sensitive IgM or IgG detection in ELISA and LF Assays
Recombinant Zika NS1 Protein (R01635)
• Expressed in insect cells and contains a His-tag
• Suitable for sensitive IgM or IgG detection in ELISA and LF Assays

Chikungunya Virus

Recombinant Chikungunya W.T. gp E1 (R01550)
• Represents a.a. 1-415 of glycoprotein E1 from the wild-type Virus
• Expressed in Drosophila S2 and contains a His-tag
• Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot
Recombinant Chikungunya Mutant gpE1 Recomb (R01551)
• Represents a.a. 1-415 of glycoprotein E1 from the wild-type Virus (Alanine at 226 position mutated to Valine)
• Expressed in Drosophila S2 and contains a His-tag
• Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot
MAb to Chikungunya Virus (C01640M, C01641M, C01642M)
• Does not cross-react with Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), Western Equine Encephalitis (WEE), Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis (VEE) and other Arboviruses.
• Suitable for use in ELISA and IFA

Dengue Virus

Serological point-of-care (POC) diagnostics are the most rapid and convenient methods available for mosquito-borne disease. Tests either detect antigens from the infectious agent or virus specific IgG/IgM antibodies and include formats such as solid-phase dip-sticks (ELISA), particle agglutination, and lateral flow. Ideally screening assays should have minimal cross-reactivity with other infectious diseases and a high sensitivity, especially during the early stages of the infection.
