Pseudorabies Virus Antibody Test Kit
Swine PRV

Latex Agglutination Assay

Pseudorabies virus infection, which causes Aujeszky's disease, occurs in many species. In adult swine the disease symptoms are mild and the mortality is low; however, in other animals the disease is fatal. Swine are the primary host of pseudorabies virus where it remains in a latent state residing quiescently in the trigeminal ganglion. Upon stimulation the virus produces an active infection. Although clinical illness may not be seen in swine after recrudescence, the virus may be shed by these animals. Therefore, any animal that has contracted a primary infection with pseudorabies virus must be considered a potential source for transmission of infectious virus.

The manual and semi-automated test kits provide a simple, rapid, qualitative method to detect IgG or IgM antibodies against pseudorabies virus in swine serum or plasma.
